Malabon City and GCash Collaborate for Cashless Transactions

In a bid to expedite and secure government transactions for Filipinos, GCash, the nation’s premier finance app, has entered into a memorandum of agreement with the Malabon City Government. This partnership aims to enable cashless payments across all cities in the National Capital Region.

The agreement was signed during the city’s 425th founding anniversary event, with City Mayor Hon. Jeannie N. Sandoval, City Treasurer Norman Delos Reyes, and GCash Head of Commercial Sales Macky Limgenco leading the ceremony. This collaboration underscores the shared vision of Malabon City LGU and GCash to enhance the safety, security, and convenience of everyday transactions through digital adoption.

With this partnership, Malaboeños will soon enjoy secure, convenient, and swift financial transactions as GCash is set to be integrated as a payment option on the city’s online portal. Additionally, all cashiers in the City Treasurer’s office will start accepting cashless payments for in-person transactions via GCash Scan.

As part of their joint efforts, GCash and the city LGU plan to educate their employees and constituents about the advantages and features of finance apps like GCash. Malabon City residents are among the top users of the app’s digital financial services, including Send Money, Pay Bills, Buy Load, Web Payment, and Pay QR.

Limgenco expressed his excitement about the integration of cashless payments for city taxes and fees in Malabon City. He believes this initiative will bring more convenience to residents and businesses, and foster quicker economic growth and development for the people of Malabon City. He also thanked the local government for their readiness and willingness to future-proof the city’s services.

In addition to aiding the city in its digitization journey, GCash also supports its partners in encouraging small and micro-entrepreneurs to accept cashless payments. More vendors in the city can now register for GCash Pera Outlet (PO). This feature allows small merchants to earn additional income and expand their businesses by providing community customers with convenient access to various GCash services such as cash-in, cash-out, bill payments, and money transfers.
