Actress Cindyana Santangelo dead at 58: Cops probe death of ‘Latin Marilyn Monroe’ who starred in CSI: Miami and ER

ACTRESS Cindyana Santangelo, once dubbed the "Latin Marilyn Monroe" by a rock legend, has died aged 58.

First responders had rushed to her home in Malibu, California, on Monday afternoon following reports of a medical emergency.

Police are currently investigating the cause of her death[/caption]

The actress, known for her recurring role on the sitcom Married With Children, was quickly taken to hospital where she was tragically pronounced dead.

Iconic singer Perry Farrell of Jane's Addiction had once called the actress the "Latin Marilyn Monroe" for her old-fashioned, movie-star visage after she appeared in a video for the band's track Stop.

Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Homicide investigators are looking into the cause of her death.

A statement from the department said: "On Monday, March 24th, at approximately 7:15 PM, Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel responded to a medical emergency call on Westlake Boulevard, in Malibu.

"Paramedics transported a female adult to an area hospital where she was later pronounced dead.

"The cause of death is undetermined, and an autopsy is pending."

The police statement added: "This investigation is ongoing, and there is no additional information available at this time."

While officers have no evidence of foul play, detectives will have to wait until her autopsy is completed before making any conclusions.

Tributes have poured in for the actress on social media following the news of her tragic death.

One fan said: "Sad news in Hollywood: Actress Cindyana Santangelo has passed away at the age of 58.

"Her contributions to film and television will be deeply missed."

Another saddened commenter added: "Cindyana Santangelo dead at 58.

"Rest in peace."

Cindyana appeared in episodes of popular shows ER and CSI: Miami during her career.

In 2009, she also appeared as Angelica the Dancer on an episode of The Bo-Bo and Skippy Show.

Outside of TV, the talented actress also appeared on the big screen, starring in the film Hollywood Homicide alongside Harrison Ford and Josh Hartnett.

The star also made her fame through many music video appearances, including in Young MC's 1989 timeless hit Bust A Move.
