LEGENDARY singer and frontman of the Youngbloods Jesse Colin Young has died at age 83.
The songwriter, best known for his vocals on top 10 hit "Get Together", died at his home in Aiken, South Carolina on Sunday afternoon, according to his wife and manager.

Young's PR team said in a statement: "It is with deep sadness that we announce music legend Jesse Colin Young, who left a unique mark on the intersecting worlds of folk, blues, jazz, country, and rock & roll, died in his home in Aiken, South Carolina yesterday afternoon."
Although he didn't write "Get Together", the songwriter composed many other hits for the band, including "Darkness, Darkness", "Sunlight", and "Ride the Wind".
Young, whose real name is Perry Miller, also launched his own solo career, releasing a string of albums under his name.
Albums "Light Shine" and "Songbird" both broke Billboard's Top 40.
The renowned musician blended genres like folk, jazz, blues, country and rock and roll, and also worked as a producer and label owner.
His team added in the statement: "As the frontman of The Youngbloods, he immortalized the ideals of the Woodstock generation with 'Get Together', an international hit that called for peace and brotherhood during the turbulent 1960s.
"During the decades that followed, Young expanded both his audience and his artistic range, releasing a string of solo albums that mixed socially conscious lyrics with top-tier guitar skills and gorgeous vocals."
The statement also said that he was a "longtime social/environmental activist", who made "modern music that's every bit as vital as his work during the counterculture era."
The Youngbloods were very popular on FM stations at the time, and their songs were covered by major artists like Led Zeppelin's Robert Plant – whose version of "Darkness, Darkness" won a Grammy nomination in 2002.
The frontman was a fierce activist for environmental issues and was a prominent figure of the 1960s counterculture era.
Hippie anthem "Get Together", which promotes peace and brotherhood, was released on their debut album in 1967 and peaked at No. 5 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Young was born on November 22, 1941, in Queens, New York.
The folk-rock singer-songwriter and bassist was a founding member of the Boston-based band the Youngbloods, which he cofounded in 1965.
The band's main members also included Jerry Corbitt, Lowell Levinger, and Joe Bauer, but also previously contained Michael Kane, David Perper and Scott Lawrence.
Youngbloods broke up in 1972, before Young's thriving solo career took off.
One of his latest albums, "Dreamers", features his son, Tristan Young, on the bass guitar.
