OASIS have confirmed they're making a film of their reunion tour – after a million pound bidding war over it was revealed.

The band's highly anticipated comeback will see the Britpop icons reunite for the first time in 16 years, and fans who were lucky enough to get a ticket can't wait.

And now the band can now confirm that a new film is being made in conjunction with the tour.

It comes after The Sun revealed last August that a brutal bidding war had broken out among production companies desperately competing to win the rights to a film about Noel and Liam Gallagher's return.

The film will be created and produced by the man behind BBC hit TV series Peaky Blinders, director and writer Steven Knight.

The BAFTA and Oscar- nominated producer is also renowned as the writer of David Cronenberg's Eastern Promises, Stephen Frears Dirty Pretty Things and for producing Locke starring Tom Hardy.

His many recent projects have included creating and writing the series This Town for the BBC on the rise of ska and two-tone in 1970's Coventry and Birmingham; and writing the script for Maria, the Oscar nominated film about Maria Callas starring Angelina Jolie and A Thousand Blows on Disney+ starring Stephen Graham

The new film will be directed by Dylan Southern and Will Lovelace.

It is being produced by Magna Studios, which has been responsible Beastie Boys Story, Gangs Of London, 20000 Days On Earth and Lewis Capaldi: How I'm Feeling Now.

At the moment no release date has yet been set.

The Sun previously revealed that streaming giant Apple was tabling a multi-million pound deal to entice the brothers into allowing cameras to follow their reunion.

But it faced pretty harsh competition from other streamers such as Netflix and Prime Video, who have deep pockets and big ideas.

A source at the time said: "Noel and Liam's teams have been inundated with offers from production companies, who are desperate to secure the rights to a documentary.

"A dedicated team over at Apple have met to discuss the bid they are putting forward, and companies who work with Netflix and Prime Video are doing the same.

"The Oasis reunion is the biggest music story of recent times and to have access to Noel and Liam would be a huge coup.

"To see the brothers coming together again and putting their bitter split behind them would make for sensational viewing.

"The offers being tabled run into their millions.

"They know the price has to be right to get Noel and Liam to do it.

"Their team is collating the offers and will go through them in due course.

"Whether Noel and Liam would agree to filming their comeback is another thing.

"They don't need it and they're focused on the music.

"But a warts-and-all documentary lifting the lid on their return would go down in history."

Earlier this week Noel and Liam Gallagher revealed who will be joining them on stage.

According sources at the NME, along with the Gallagher brothers, fans can expect Andy Bell on bass and Gem Archer on guitar, who both joined the band in its later years.

Oasis founder and guitarist Paul "Bonehead" Arthurs will also be back in the band for the new tour after leaving the group in 1999.

Fans we also be treated to new member, Joey Waronker on drums.

The pro drummer has played for huge acts in the past, including Beck, R.E.M and Thom Yorke's Atoms For Peace band.

Oasis are yet to officially confirm this line-up.
