The Hollywood legend died from pneumonia on Tuesday at the age of 65 after suffering a lengthy health battle.

In the tragic last clip, he declares he's "ready" as he grabs a Batman mask to don for one last time.

Kilmer jokingly adds: "It's been a while" as he slots the black and white version of his costume over his face, and looks into the camera.

Another person can be heard in the background complementing how "great" the veteran actor looked donning his old outfit.

Fans of the star have turned to the post to pay tribute to Kilmer, calling him a "treasure" and a "legend".

One said: "Forever my Batman.

"Rest in peace."

Another added: "I am heartbroken that you are no longer with us, Val.

"I pray you are resting in peace.

"Thank you so much for your art – you will be deeply, deeply missed!"

Kilmer passed away on Tuesday after suffering from pneumonia, his daughter announced.

The actor became a household name when he played fighter pilot Tom "Iceman" Kazansky in Top Gun alongside Tom Cruise.

After finding success on the beloved classic, Kilmer went on to play his biggest role as Batman in Batman Forever.
